ascension
Ascension represents a great transformation. In her head dress are everything she has gained. Behind her, she is walking/growing away from the pyramid which represents all the things which are no longer true.
Flying close by with her is a winged messenger with an exclamation halo. This could either mean a good or mischievous travel companion.
The un-exclaimed star in her head dress suggests that she is moving forward in great clarity, in great, informed and specific intention.
In her heart is a collection of lotus blossoms unfolding.
All is well. All is new and beginning.

our lady of the sphinx
Our Lady of the Sphinx, 3200 BCE, is a manifestation of the eternal divine mother. On one shoulder sits a blackbird with an exclamation halo on his head. The exclamation means he is either bringing her new/advice which is good OR new/advice which is mischievous. Her head tilts to the side as if to be in contemplation. The pyramid on her other shoulder represents everything meaningless which would only weigh her down.
Around her neck is a serpent, a symbol of the ancient goddess who sheds her skin…
In this piece there are many decisions to be made and their are many strong outward influences waiting to sway, some to the left, some to the right, and some, tightening their grip…

aurora, lady of the northern light
Aurora is from the future, she also resides in the far far north. She is the first character I have ever made who I have wanted to make accessories for. I would not be surprised if she makes a few more appearances in new paintings in the near future.
I know that Aurora is extremely quiet as well as is extremely smart. When she has something to say, it is often very specific, significant, and very soft spoken; so be sure to listen very carefully when she speaks, so as not to miss what she has to say.

the lady isolde and her shy pet
The lady Isolde and her Shy Pet are both from today. She is a bit of a hermit who lives out deep in the coastal forest.
A lot of people will come to judge her at first glance as just another one of those, you know, “whoo whoo bajoo boo” northwest women, but in reality she is a real Shaman, a visionary, a radical.
Her intention is pure and if one will stick around, they will find that they are amazed by her wisdom and by her deeply rooted sincerity.
Her pet lives in her hair, hidden, but look out, all the little eyes glaring back at you are not simply decorations…..you’re being watched…….very carefully….by a lurker who is…..very very shy.

intention
Ah, intention, the timeless gift giving, advice offering mischief maker. Here we have featured the halo with exclamations and a star of knowledge solidly set on her right side. She knows what’s she’s doing…
…the question is……is she up to good? or is she up to mischief?
Her horns are not a sign of “bad”, they more are there to indicate her connection to the earth and worldly things. Her head dress affirms all she has gained and her accomplishments.
Her snake skin indicates her ability to shed her skin to make and remake her self and appearances every so often.

babygirl
Don’t let her name fool you. I’m not sure there’s very much “baby” like to tell about this 7′ Scandinavian Amazon woman. Let’s see, amongst her faves are: Roller Derby, Shot Put, Disc, Butterfly swimming in the relay, Full Back on the Soccer team, Forward in basketball.
Her trademark is the image of innocence, but definitely do not be fooled. This is one tough chica who can definitely take you on and your cousin!
And, of coarse, it’s all in good fun, for the love of her sports; after all, it’s not easy being the tallest girl/person around!

Sweet Pea
Like Love, Above All Else, Sweet Pea is also from the early middle ages. Unlike Love, Above, though, sweet pea has no interest in finding a soul mate and love in this way.
Instead, Sweet Pea is a caregiver, a nurturer, a healer. She loves, simply to love. There is not much else she would rather do than to help and heal others. She never wants for anything for herself. In this, she is impossibly selfless.
On the opposite side of the story, Sweet Pea has encountered the very worst of things, she has experienced the very worst of things, she has been treated in the very worst of ways. She is one who has suffered and lost so much, that she, above most others, has every reason in the universe to be resentful, yet still her love lingers. This is who she is, this is what she does.
Her love is unconditional. Her love is Divine.

wanderlust
Something that I have noticed as a recurring theme in my work are these very strong characters who most of the time, if they were to be inserted into a much larger epic, would appear as very strong female leads, many of whom appear in what are generally considered male roles.
These two paintings are depicting different female pilots. This comes across to me as being very interesting in that I am super duper terrified of flying. Irony.
Our first Pilot, wanderlust, is on a specific mission. Her eyes fixed and determined. All of her lines and weaving emphasize upward motion.
Our second pilot, Ariel, is not on any particular mission. She is more just a pilot for fun, possibly to float along with the butterflies she seems to idolize so dearly. Notice how the butterfly has taken up prominence where the star of knowledge usually appears on other ladies…

Love, Above All Else
This little guy lived in the early middle ages. One might even consider him/it a hobbit like little guy. This spirit’s big issue was falling in and out of love all the time. Unfortunately though, always with no luck because he/it is so short and ugly.
One day…..this spirit decided to make a truce, that no matter who loved with him/it, he would love, above all else, just for the sake of loving, even if there would never be anyone to ever love him/it in return.
See how the broken heart has been mended.

Forest Princess for a Day
Ah, the forest princess (for a day). This spirit, from the present, reminds us all to not take everything too seriously. As evidenced by her super chic Banana Republic turtleneck sweater, this little spirit is most definitely a business professional of some sort; just for fun, lets play that she is a designer from the Pacific Northwest.
One day she happened out into the forest where she ran into all of the different forest sprites who took her as their own and dressed her up as their very own princess (for a day) complete with face paint, plant garlands and a tiara.
